Handheld Europe Introduces Algiz 10 Rugged Tablet Computer

Versatile tablet computer offers perfect combination of light weight and large screen size

Handheld Europe introduced today the new Algiz 10 rugged tablet computer. This tablet PC with 10.4-inch screen was developed especially for harsh environmental conditions and physical stress. With shock-absorbing bumpers and sturdy magnesium housing, the Algiz 10 meets rigorous MIL-STD-810F military standards for shock, vibration and moisture and has an IP54 rating for protection against dust and water. It also handles extreme temperatures, from -20 to 60 °C.

The Algiz 10 includes 1.2 GHz Intel Core Duo Yonah ULV Processor, an 80 GB shock-mounted hard drive and up to 2 GB RAM. The Windows XP Tablet PC SP2 Edition operating system runs all the applications PC users rely on, including Calendar, E-mail, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. A nine-cell (7800 mAh) Li-ion battery runs up to seven hours.

The Algiz 10 delivers outstanding performance for mobile professionals. It features multiple integrated wireless technologies to facilitate communication in the field including integrated EDGE/GPRS, 802.11 a/b/g and Class II Bluetooth, making it compatible with any wireless network. The Algiz 10's compact size, light weight and ergonomic design make it easy to handle, and it has several I/O ports to allow easy connection to peripheral devices.

The Algiz 10 rugged tablet joins the Algiz 13 rugged notebook and the Algiz 8 rugged tablet to round out the Handheld Algiz family.

"As our goal is to offer our resellers enough choice to meet their specific needs, we are very happy to continue the expansion of the Algiz line. So whether our customers are looking for a full notebook capability or need to decrease weight while still having a screen size suitable for their application, they can count on the Algiz product family" said Thomas Löfblad, Director of Handheld Europe.

The Algiz 10 is available for ordering immediately. The first customer shipment is expected by late August.

The first annual Handheld Business Partner Conference was recently held in Gothenburg, Sweden and turned out to be very successful. The event included external speakers from Microsoft, VDC, Arcontia and TDS as well as speakers from the Handheld Group. Some of the Business partners had the opportunity to present their solutions in a partner showcase as well as in a short speech on stage. The conference also included product information and demonstration of the latest product news, such as the Algiz 13.

In the evening a BBQ dinner was held outdoors and continued until late, and as shown in the pictures below, Gothenburg showed off with perfectly nice summer weather.

The Handheld team would like to thank all of you that had the possibility to join us, and hope that you will be able to attend next year as well.
